Welcome to Daniel Forslund, Commissioner for Innovation and eHealth at Stockholm County Council
Daniel Forslund was elected Commissioner in October 2014, representing the Liberal Party in Stockholm County Council. As Commissioner for Innovation and eHealth, he is politically responsible for initiatives, policies and strategic investments related to digitalization, medical technologies, eHealth, electronic health record systems, innovation procurement, information security etc.
Mr. Forslund holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science, and previously worked as Deputy Director at the Health Care Division of the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs from 2002 to 2011. At the Ministry, he was leading the Swedish Government’s initiatives on eHealth Policy. This included the process of negotiating and establishing Sweden’s first National Strategy for eHealth. From 2011-2014 he served as Chief Strategy Officer at VINNOVA, the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation, with responsibility for the Agency’s efforts on Public Sector Innovation with the goal to increase the innovation capacity in society and facilitating the deployment and broad use of innovative ideas, processes and technologies.
Mr. Forslund also has extensive experience in European and International cooperation on healthcare, for example from negotiations in the European Council Working Group, as Chairman of the Project Steering Board in the epSOS Large Scale Pilot and representing Sweden as Management Board Director and General Assembly Member in IHTSDO, a global organization for health terminologies.
